Rio

Cangrejal

RAFTING

Enjoy the Rio Cangrejal as it flows north towards the Caribbean and the city of La Ceiba. The river valley hosts steep jungle mountains bordering Pico Bonito National Park to the west and Nombre de Dios to the east. The river offers a variety of rapids ranging from Class II to V. The most common stretch that we run is referred to as the “Gorge” section which hosts several Class III and IV rapids. Along the way we’ll have several swimming opportunities in the crystal clear warm waters jumping off house-sized boulders. During the summer months (April-August) the river tends to be at its moderate levels but while providing some still great action. During the “rainy season” (September-January) the river takes on a dramatic change resembling a large river that flows like the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. The section below the Gorge offers giant rolling waves as it meanders its way to the Caribbean during these higher flows.
